Extra holes on A12 LH inner fender??

Are the two holes that are drilled above the LH shock tower correct for something or do I need to weld them up? I am not referring to the two holes for the fender tag, but if you look at the photo, they are further back on the inner fender above the shock tower. The car is an A12 Super Bee if it matters.

Hey Stan, don't fill them yet! I'm pretty sure they are original. I'll get in touch with the new owner of my A12 Bee and have him double check.

Notice that they are around the circumference of the spot welds for the inner fender shock tower brace on the underside. The holes don't go all the way through, so I'm not sure exactly what they were used for. Possibly something for alignment of the panels during assembly??

Leave them there. They are stock for all B-Body cars that I'm aware of. I checked my A12 Bee to verify they are there (thanks for the heads up James!!! ) and they are. I have also seen them on several 69 Chargers I've owned. The other three "dimples" I believe are for A/C line bracket hold downs.

Dave: I did notice that they looked "factory". It looks like the were drilled from the bottom side before the shock brace was welded in place.

James: Have you checked out the progress of the Bee in the thread I have going in the "Restoration" forum? It has been a loooong road but it is finally coming together.

The only think I can think of that would have bolted down in that area would be the servo for cruise control. I can't ever remember seeing those holes there on any of the 69 B bodies I have owned.

all of mine have them. I agree they are for the CC servo bkt. a buddy had a 68 GTX that had cruise and the bracket mounted right there!

They are "pilot holes" to be drilled for the cruise control mounting bracket (if so equipped), here's my first MOPAR - a '68 383 4bbl Charger.

There are many spot welds in that area to attach inner fender to the upper shock tower and related inner fender support.

What is the distance from hole to hole?

What size bolts/screws are used there on the cruise control?

My 70RR has 2 holes in that spot weld "arc" but are bigger diameter holes than pictured above.

Are those pilot holes 3&3/16" center to center?

I appears to me, someone had a cruise control on this 4spd car back in the 70's.

I had always wondered what someone had mounted there. I tried an MSD but it didn't match any holes. But for some reason, I guess being a 4spd, ...never even thought about cruise until I read this thread.

I've been try'n to get a hold of one of the previous owner's who bought it in about 78 to see if he remembers it being on it when he got it.



...and it's got me 'n ...it'd be nice to have.
