Correct E-body steering column color?

I have restored several E-body steering columns over the years and always used a satin black paint. I am redoing one now and Im questioning if this is right. It looks too shiney. Im thinking a low gloss black may be closer to correct. I have seen a lot of E-bodies in junk yards over the years and they never had a shine, but then again they were faded out 35 year old cars.

What year?

Im doing both a 70 and a 71-74.

Bought my 1st one in 7/77 & recall most of the painted interior parts were a semi-flat, rather then a semi-gloss finish.

Thats kinda what I was thinking, low gloss.

try a can of krylon semi-flat. see how you like it.

The 70 column will get a "suede" finish paint{basically an additional additive in the mix} and is different than the later {71-74}year paint...

you can still get the correct paint here in KY. 9388 It's availiable in enamal too, although I have never used enamel. I've sprayed gallons of this stuff, it's correct. 3960 is the correct argent silver for wheels and other stuff.

I agree with what was said above, but wanted to add that not all comumns were black. some were matched to interior color.
