B-body Vent Window Frames - 08/27/14 05:35 AM

Good Evening! Trying to figure out what years are compatible for the front door vent window frames. My car is a 1969 B-body and I have found some vent frames off a 1966 and 1967. They look the same in pictures buy want to make sure before I buy.

Thakns,
Carl

not the same size unless your '69 is a convertible (& pivot looks different)

Hi

We are close (within 2-3 months) of releasing a complete kit of all of the chromed diecast parts for the 68-70 b-body hardtop vent window parts

5 parts per side
long front post,
vent channel,
vent window lever,
inner + outer pivots

we have already test fitted them and approved the production run

we had some samples at the nationals on display

Thanks

What!? How did I not see that there? That is great news. I know Mike Ross from BE&A was workiing on making these available too, but that project seemed to drift off. Any idea on pricing for these kits yet Tony?

Re: B-body Vent Window Frames - 08/28/14 06:27 AM

I am with Dave on this, How did I miss them??
I talked to Mike at BE&A and the reason he stopped his deal was the pricing was way to much for him to be able to sell them.
I was bummed but I understood because if they are too much nobody will buy them.
Tony do you have any photos you can post of what you had at the Nats??
Also Cost ????
Thanks Tony, David

Hi
Thanks for your interest

We felt it was a much needed and long overdue item

We have a target retail price of $500 for a complete right and left "kit", it may vary just a little dependent upon packaging and transport

I'm anxiously waiting for them too

Thanks again

Re: B-body Vent Window Frames - 08/28/14 06:08 PM

I was always told that the vents from a 68/69 b body 4 door were the same as a 68/69 b body convert??true or no??

Re: B-body Vent Window Frames - 08/28/14 08:00 PM

No they arent

But the 66-7 b-body hardtop frames are the same for 66-70 B-body convertibles

Tony, any chance you could post a picture or two of the prototype stuff?

Re: B-body Vent Window Frames - 08/29/14 03:55 PM

After the nationals we had time to install it and approve it

Here is a picture of it installed in a car (1970 road runner)

The chrome isn't the final chrome, which will be triple plated, and will look better.

Thanks for your interest

Much needed , long overdue part , thanks Tony.

A friend had his rechromed , the shop that did it I think grinds the chrome? It lost the character line and looks like bleep.

That's why I decided to find decent used ones instead of attempting to have mine replated, but they aren't perfect. Good job Tony!

Tony,

Will the channels already be riveted to the chrome posts?

Thanks

Re: B-body Vent Window Frames - 09/02/14 03:05 PM

Hi

thanks for your inquiry

we wont be supplying the stainless door glass channels,
you would reuse your old ones and rivet them to the new chrome frames that we are making

we are making a kit that consists of 10 pieces,
5 pieces per side:
-the chrome vent post
-the chrome vent glass channel
-the chrome vent glass lock lever
-the 2 piece inner and outer vent glass pivot

the stainless glass channel doesn't rust or pitt because it is stainless, so youll need to have your original vent glass post assembly to assemble our new parts on

thanks

I am also like Dave as I am getting real close to installing the door glass and vent window frames in my A12 RR. I would like better chrome then what I have so your timing is Great. Hopefully it won't be a couple months before they are out.
Thanks Tony,
David

Will all the details of each piece be difficult to differentiate from factory pieces? I am hoping for great accuracy and fit. Thank you for moving this forward

Re: B-body Vent Window Frames - 09/07/14 05:15 PM

Hi Ed

yes, they wont be able to be distinguished from originals, and they fit as originals without any issues.

Re: B-body Vent Window Frames - 09/08/14 04:46 PM

Costs around 400 a side to get them rechromed locally, plus the time to pull them apart and so on... 500 a pair would be great

Hi All,
What ever happened to the whole vent window frame repo deal that was a slide it down and bolt up and your done thing? Seems I read it or saw it here a while back that it was in the works.
