legendary auto interiors - 05/14/14 05:07 PM

I'd like to know if anyone has used this company. I'd like to know how the quality of their products are. I know some stuff is high priced. I'll be looking at purchasing se bucket seat covers, carpet, and headliner (if they sell headliner for se).

Thanks

Yes used them many times. Once direct. But leaned after that that it is best to use a dealer in case you have a problem. As the dealers deal with them many times and have tons of pull, over your one time buy.
Not that you should expect a problem but anything shipped wrong or short is taken care of faster with a dealer if you buy from a good dealer.
Plus the price is better that way.
Dante and Tom At R/T specialties were who I use as dealers. Both are great guys.
I also used Bill who runs A&M for things but unsure if it was for Legandary. Just saying he was first rate as well, as emails and phone calls were returned answered easy with him.

The best you can get, and they will be correct. I have the seat covers and door panels for my convertible. I had a set of PUI covers and door panels to start, and they were not correct in detail. The Legendary pieces were spot on to the originals. Door panels were a toss up, but the Legendary had the holes punched which saves me time and a possibility of messing them up. Spend the money unless you don't care if they are absolutely correct.

They went the extra mile since I needed extra carpet and vinyl to do some of the things there were done on the car when new but they did not do. So I could do it myself and have the serging on the trunk carpet like it was. And make up the wheel house covers from the old ones as patterns

I have a 30 plus year background in floor covering.
The filler was supposed to be blasted and chrome plated to look dull. I never had it redone just left it bling. They should look like the rear seat back latches. And the trunk floor carpet is 2 parts now as the molded was not available everything else is as it came

As already said the best you can buy for our car's. I always go through Dante for great price and service.
I just got a complete interior for my 72 Satellite.

Be aware that the carpet they sell is probably ACC brand. I don't believe they make their own.
I prefer Trim Parts carpet and Dante sells that.

Also the headliners aren't exact for all years Mopar so get a sample from them to compare.
I had to use SMS to make my headliner because their material was very very close to my original.

Thanks for the replies.
I will check out dealer of L.A.I.
As far as the headliner, all was left was the felt. I wonder what the thickness of the foam was. I'll check out SMS.

I'm not overly happy with them but they are just about the only game in town.

Overall, they're the best.

Do they make their own E-Body interior panels or are they Palco?

I just bought new white leather for my cuda from them. They look very nice. Sit down for the price. I bought Metro door panel. Roseville has those now.I spent more on the interior last year than paid for the car in 76!

I too would agree that they are the best.

I did have a problem with the cover made for my Plymouth. It used NOS material...so it was costly. (This is over 10 years ago)

I found some light stains on the material. After sending them pictures, they suggested I show them the car at Carlisle. I did. They suggested using a cleaner on the material and suggested a particular product. I couldn't find it, even calling upholstery shops..you name it. I did try some other products that did not remove the stains.

It must've taken a year to get it replaced with what seemed like endless phone calls.

So..I too would recommend working with a dealer than may have some clout.

Re: legendary auto interiors - 05/16/14 07:15 PM

Never had any issue that left a bad taste in my mouth. We did a 68 charger with arm rest. When we installed that the stitching let go pulling it on. Maybe our fault or stitching but no questions asked they replaced it fast. About the only thing I am not happy is the dealer discount. When I did the charger it was an older formula and I got a bigger discount buying through the shop but now they restructured discount rating based on what you buy in a year so its cheaper for me to buy from Dante if I need something than buying it through the shop but thats just business and nothing in regards to their products.

It's my understanding that Legendary sells Palco interior panels for the E-bodies. They are junk.

My experience exactly. I have used a Legendary for 25 years. Dante's is great
I have never gotten a headliner from Legendary that matched the OEM material.
I have used PUI seat upholstery a few times but Legendary was better.
