NE1 Use Bullseye Picks For Ding Removal? - 03/16/14 11:44 PM

Anybody here bought a bullseye pick from Eastwood or other, and how did you like it? Do you still need lead work after using the picks, or can you get the metal back to exactly the way it was with some skill and practice?

Should I use hammers and dollies instead? My car is totally disassembled down to the one-piece body in white.

What about the paintless dent removal system with DVD for $300? Useless since it will get new paint anyway?

My car is almost ready for the body & paint shop, but it has several dozen parking lot dings that I would like to at least try fixing before I start paying by the hour.

If you are new to all of this (bodywork)...
you might be better in the long run $$ wise to delegate all of this
(dent removal) to the body shop.

Beating/shaping metal back to it's original shape takes time/patience and practice...
If you want to practice on your car that's great but you can
work/overwork the metal to such an extent that you frustrate
yourself and create more work in the long run for a shop.

To answer your question directly,
yes I own the bullseye picks from Eastwood but I NEVER use the
pick/sharp tip that comes with it. I use the blunt tips only.

I don't use a pick hammer for anything. But that is just me..
Others will swear by them...if that works for them then great!

If you are interested in body work...I suggest looking to your local community college and enrolling in auto body courses if offered.

Best of luck to you...
