Anyone know the history on this car? - 08/09/13 04:47 PM
A couple of things just don't look right to me on these tags. Comments from anyone please.

The show cars all came with 3.23 open rears and 22" rads (with shroud - lol). No axle package. Everything you could see on these cars was put on....stuff you couldn't see was standard. They did get disc brakes though...

Yes - Weird - no axle package and a 26 on there........I don't think that should be...

& the cars have SHAKERS that are NOT coded on the tags
FJ5 - what's the sequence number on your car's b'cast sheet?

I have 100116. Mine is one of the "Announcement" show cars.
Almost everything looks identical - option-wise...except...
I don't have A28 on my tag or N97 either..both Noise reduction..Funny it shows the chrome tips too....is that normal with an N97 car? Also the spacing looks a little funny...but maybe not. R11 is the last thing on mine on the second tag...before the VIN.
I also have A67 on mine - window louvres.

this might sound like a stupid question but...anyone got a pic of the shaker cable hole on any of these two cars-are any of these two the one that was the salt test car that roger gibson restored? the shaker hole on that car exited from a different spot on the firewall than what is the norm on 70-71 cuda`s. don`t know why it exited there as these were early 71 cars not early 70 cars.
all the best.
frank.

Mine was the other (non salt test) car that Roger did. Both were in his shop at pretty well the same time.

Not that I'm questioning authenticity but why the difference in the door tags and only one vin apart?

From what I've heard .....
If a car was damaged or had other issues (for example, ASC sunroof cars were also finished on this "line") that caused it to be pulled from the main assembly line it was moved to a "repair line" (I don't know Chrysler's actual name for this other line). When it was completed, final inspected, & door tag issued on this "repair line" the door tag was printed from a machine that had the typewriter font of 100010's tag.

I agree with this theory, not only hand typed, typo mistakes were common.
