70 Challenger Battery - 07/25/13 01:51 PM

Anybody know what battery I should have with the box on my build sheet having a "69" in it? Looked in my parts book and that had no info on batteries.

Thanks,
Bob

On line 7 of your broadcast sheet, what number is printed in the battery column?

From the 1969 Sales Code charts (the only place I've ever found battery information):

2642969 = 70 AmpHr, Red Cap, Rubber Separators (Group 27)

The "5" denotes Sales Code F25, which designates the 70 Amp/hr red cap Group 27 battery just like "69" does on Line 3. Sales Code F25 was available as an extra cost option on many option packages where it was not standard equipment. For '69 Chargers, F25 was available as an $8.40 MSRP adder on anything but a 440/Hemi application in which case it came standard. Same thing applies to several other Chrysler-family models, I just don't have the MSRP information on those like I do for Chargers.

In the '69 Charger Price Bulletin, they referred to F25 as "BATTERY - 70 Amp.-Cold Weather Type"

Hey Bob - just curious does the ALT call out on the build sheet specify 73 or 72?

It has a 72 on it.

Appreciate that! I always wondered whether a group 27 battery option mandated the 47 amp single pulley alternator. Those are kind of oddball options but your answer helps clear that up. Thanks!
