Anyone Know The Application Of These Decals?

Anyone Know The Application Of These Decals? - 06/04/13 12:58 AM

I recently purchased some of these decals from what was said to be from the estate of a past Chrysler worker. There were many decals including "Air Grabber" and "Ramcharger" scoop decals, emblems and even some reflective Chrysler Corp. Fire Extinguisher stickers. All of the pieces appear to be assembly line or "Lunch Pail" items and are for 1970-71 cars. These New Car Prep decals I've never seen before and was wondering if anyone has any input as to what they might have been used for. Thanks in advance for any help.

IIRC, they were on the side windows, near the Monroney sticker. I don't recall the word "custom", but a similar sticker saying that some organization (likely to be a subsidiary of Chrysler) had inspected the car.

Thanks guys... if it helps at all, they did come from Riverside, California. I'd love to know what they actually did to the cars and if in fact the decals could be from the 1970-71 era.

The timeframe I remember seeing them - or something a lot like them - was in SoCal during the '68-'70 model years.

Dealer number 53049 -

Automotive Precheck Corp.
12140 E. Slauson
Santa Fe Springs, CA

There is a previous thread here somewhere that mentions them, if I remember right they were less than 10 miles from the assembly plant in LA.

Automotive Pre Check Corp. would dealer prep cars for dealers that did not have a service department & was the west coast handler/dealer for the company's show cars. They also handled special/custom/VIP vehicles for the rich & famous "hollywood" types. In the '80s the location became the home to Shelby Ent. for the conversion of the numbered Shelby Mopars.

I think it was talked about in this thread about omaha orange 1968 Road Runners. The window sticker I took a picture of shows Santa Fe Springs as the "Ship to:" https://board.moparts.org/ubbthreads/show...rt=all&vc=1

Amazing!! Thanks so much guys... I really appreciate all the info. Well, I guess if someone has a Dodge or Plymouth that passed through this prep center and would like an authentic decal for inside their glass, I have 9 of each color. (Hanging onto one of each color for myself). Also, I forgot to give the size of these decals. They are bigger than you might expect. Each one is 5 inches wide and 4 1/4 inch tall. A pretty visible decal once placed on a cool car or truck.
