1971 Challenger Grill Help - 05/10/13 04:13 PM

Does anyone have any pictures of the upper grill on a 1971
Challenger? I need to see where all the bolts go as well as where the
upper grill retainers go. What do the hold? The picture in the 71 body manuel is of a 1970 dash.

The top of the grill in front of the hood latch assembly. The plate that goes on top of the grill. My car was in pieces and I am putting the grill and top plate back on. I bought a grill hardware kit from R/T Specialties and I do not know where the upper grill retainers go. The large plastic push-in retainers. I may be missing some parts. I have been looking for some pictures of the grill assembly but cannot find one.

The grill slides over the metal latch plate then the plastic clips get pushed through the top of the grill into the metal plate.

The top plate is installed first. With the bumper off, slide grill in, the top of grill lip fits over the top plate that gets the large head plastic push pins as stated previously. The back center grill bracket mounts to a vertical bracket (in front of the radiator) with 2 1/4"x 1" bolts. Last are 2 small plastic push pins at each end. Just be gentle, old plastic grills can crack easily. My pictures are too big, I can email them if you need pictures.

No wonder I could not figure it out. I had the top of the grill below the plate. Now I can stop drinking and go back to work. Thanks for the help.
