Is there a Road Runner convertible registry?

Is there a Road Runner convertible registry? - 01/10/13 04:08 PM

AS one of the rarest of the Road Runner models and b-bodies in general, it's surprising to me that a registry like the A-12 one isn't on the web somewhere.

Of course, it probably is, but I haven't found it!

No such thing. They made alot more A12 cars over the 2128 total 69 and 824 total 70 RR verts. I seem to know where most are....

Is there a B-body vert registry for ALL Mopars regardless of B-body model year convertibles?? That would make more sense than just road runners IMO. There were far fewer '68 and '69 GTX verts made but they share a lot of the same or similar components that would help if owners were to share knowledge and experiences with each other. And I'm sure the similarities hold true for ALL of the Dodge and Plymouth B-body verts.

3319 total A12 production
2952 RR ragtop production
= 367 more A12 cars made, not too big a spread

Re: Is there a Road Runner convertible registry? - 01/10/13 06:20 PM

A long story that I'll shorten as much as possible but I'm at a small local cruise near the lake shore of Lake Erie and a nice man and his wife are looking at my GTX and the wife asks about the 8-track player if it works and then goes on to tell me the reason she asked is because the one in their GTX doesn't. I'm kind of skepticle that she may or may not know what year and car they have but then her husband starts to tell me he bought the car new in '69 when he was going to college and it's a B5 blue '69 GTX convertible. A little over a year goes by and last fall I'm with my son at the same cruise place and we're the only car there when a '69 B5 blue GTX convertible pulls in and backs in right next to me and it him and his wife.

His GTX 440 automatic is an original owner (he's a commerical airline pilot ) all numbers matching car and I'm the third owner of an all numbers matching '69 GTX 4-speed car. So sitting in this DQ by the lake shore were two very nice GTX examples (but that's just my personal opinion )......we talked for almost two hours

Re: Is there a Road Runner convertible registry? - 01/10/13 06:38 PM

I thought my GTX had a few options but his was on the verge of a second tag Anyone like to de-code it,

(my GTX has power discs, power steering, 4-speed, console, vinyl roof, hood stripes, tach, 8-track, wood grain steering wheel, tinted glass, stripe, road wheels, and the SPD was Dec 16, '68 (C16) in the LA assembly plant......check out his SPD in the St. Louis plant halfway across the country ) What a great chance meeting we had as he lives in Southern Ohio and has a summer home on the lake 15-minutes from me now. He drove the car up there that weekend for the first time hoping to find me to show me their GTX, he's really loves the car and that's why he's had it since he bought it in '69.

pfffttt....

RR convertibles are some of the most common B body convertibles out there.

They made more RR convertibles in one year (1969 - 2,128) than they did R/T convertibles in four ( 1,976 total 67-70).

Dime a dozen.

Now that I've had some fun....I'm not aware of any specific registry for RR convertibles. But since they were built at the STL plant, I'd be interested in knowing about any that are still out there.

Very true. R/T ragtops are much more rare. I have had a 69 R/T vert, and plenty of 69 RR verts. R/T's are much harder to find.

Yeah wonder how many satellite converts have been made into rr verts? How many of them were 318 cars or even like dads 383 2bbl?

GREAT SITE!

OP was looking for a rr vert registry but it seems there's no registry for B-body convertibles and sounds like that would be a site that would have more interest and activity for all of the vert B-body models.

About the same as Coronet 500 convertibles 'cloned' in to an R/T.

Thats why I left my 500 as a 500,there are more 500s cloned into R/Ts than left as 500s

My memory is not getting any better, but I still can recognize stuff on occasion.
