If the rubber is not dry rotted and cracked glass bead the entire hose and have the ends plated, the plating wont stick to the rubber. Have them pressure tested also.

I went the cheapie route over having them replated. I used a chrome galvanize spray paint from Eastwood. made by Aervoe.

Pretty close in appearance to the reflective clear zinc I think these were originally plated with. The paint takes forever to completely dry though and is not very durable (scratches easily)

Respectfully let me say, they look much better in pics than in real life. When you personally visually look at this when spray bombed, they look spray bombed. Its just not the same.

Here's what I do and it will take a little time; first I cleaned then with some laquer thinner the taped and sealed every opening and then glass bead blasted the metal items. Then tool 000 steelwool and some good metal polish and made them as clean and smooth as possible. Then I took metal polish (Semichrome paste) and a buffing wheel and polished them to a chrome like finish. From here it's your choice, use RPM, a good parifin clear wax or clear engine (hi-temp) enamel and coated them to maintain the finish. Some of the parts that I wanted with a satin finish I of course didn't use the buffing wheel.
