V Code 70 GTX - 10/06/12 06:29 PM

Anyone know of or have a 70 GTX in EW1 white? Would like to see any pics of one in that coler, particulary the six pack cars. Or RR's too if in that coler. How many were built in EW1?

Don't see a lot in that color.

IIRC, this is a real V-code car...

Thank you for that bit of knowledge, is that number from a registry? From what I've heard there's no official records available from Chrysler Corp since those got burned up in a fire. It's great that you have access to that info.

No, that information is available, though it is approximate as it is based on a percentage and is for us production only. The registry information is completely useless for determining the number built. You will be able to find out how many v code cars were built (auto or 4sped) as well as how many were white...but not both

I remember seeing a white 70 GTX at Great Lakes Dragway, sometime around 1986. The only one I ever remember seeing in person...

Thanks, it's a 4 speed with the super trak pack option. N96 fresh air hood, black interior, manual steering.

Be interested to hear from anyone with a similar car in EW1.

Re: V Code 70 GTX - 10/09/12 07:36 AM

About 10 years ago I looked at pics of an originally EW1 - "Alpine white" 440+6 automatic GTX project that was for sale.
Racecar - painted "plum crazy" with lots of issues, no fender tag ..... RS23V0G168xxx. Where is it now, did it ever get restored?

Re: V Code 70 GTX - 10/09/12 02:05 PM

There was a 70 GTX that sold out of Michigan to Florida a few years ago. It was white with gator grain top and gold & black interior (P6XY). I would expect that color combo was not very common.
I would love to see the car completed some day.

This is the one you saw at DaGrove. I had owned it from 84-94. The roadrunner with the blower I saw in Kansas around the early 80's.

The bench seat car at the top, was that a v-code X? Same exterior as my car.

Were you referring to me? If so, that does ring a bell with the Centerline wheels! Small world isn't it?

I was in the Navy and went back to Great Lakes Navy Base for another school. Went up to watch the races and saw the car. Mine was/is a burnt orange, if you remember seeing mine back then.

This one originated somewhere in Illinois, supposedly was raced by the original owner in the 70's then parked for years afterwards. I don't know where in Illinois that was though, maybe somebody on here remembers it?
