White interior dye paint: where to purchase?

White interior dye paint: where to purchase? - 08/27/12 12:35 AM

Living in Hawaii it is troublesome bringing in paint.

Can I purchase the correct off white dye to spray interior panels from a body shop paint supply store or is it so specific I need to get it from a resto specialty paint supply? If so, any suggestions?
Thanks!

Depending what quality you are looking for I have had very good results in the past with door panels using a product from Krylon called Fusion. I believe they have an off white color now. I have used black Fusion on all of my door panels. I am quite please with the results, and it is relatvily resonable on the price.

I washed the parts down with Prep-sol or some type of degreaser. I put on several light coats of paint, then I used Krylon clear coat for a two or three more coats and they have come out very good. The best part is you can get Fusion at home depot or any hardware store.

You way want to test it on the back side of a panel first to see if it is what you are looking for.

Thanks for the insight Jeff. My only concerns I'm matching my panels to new white panels and hoping for a good match.
I'll look into it

Go to your local paint supplier & ask for SEM 15103 Super White

Just an update for those using Metro repro panels. I tried the SEM Super White as stated above and it was a tad too white. obvious contrast.
Fortunately my paint supllier took my panel and color matched it perfectly and put it in a can for $21 Awesome match and looks great!

FWIW When I put a set of the old Palco panels in a car there was a scuff that wouldn't clean off, I contacted Palco & the Super White was what they suggested & it matched their panels very well, Sorry it didn't work for you...

Ive never seen SEMs super white match any seat covers period. Dyeing black or blue is one thing, white and orange is another. Go to your PPG dealer and he can match the color of your seats no matter what color. SEMs is ok for darker colors but to play with the big boys and get an exact match go to any automotive paint supplier.

No worries Randy! I always appreciate your input ! Now that you bring up Palco, their panels are painted and I remember seeing a set and recall how really white they are.
The Metro panels are spot on with my Legendary seat covers and the color matching was so worth it. Didn't know it was that easy for them to match it and put it in a can for only $9 more than the SEM can. if anything, the Super White made a nice primer foundation

http://www.tcpglobal.com/restorationshop/

This place has scanned in color chips for the oldies and can mix anything you want.

I've ordered SEM interior white for my 68 GTX and 69 RR. Its a ready to spray dye you can put in a paint gun, or elcheapo throwaway spray kit.

I've even got the correct organasol dash paint from them as well.

If you have a local paint store who has dupont and you got the factory paint code, they should be able to mix it for you also.
