70-71 vs. 72-74 Challenger Front Valance Differences ? - 07/12/12 12:26 AM

Looking for detailed photos of the differences between an assembly line correct 1970-71 Challenger front valance (2998542) and a 1972-74 front valance (3573598).

Thank you!

Tim,

If it's Challenger you just need to ask.

The 2998542 has two 5/16 holes for the license plate bracket and 6 small holes to attach the valence opening trim.

The 3573598 has six 7/16 holes for the gray insert trim. One small hole and two extra flanges near the opening (see pic 2)

Thanks for the pics Chris! I think there is an era of valances out there that used the old number, yet were different from production line. Check the pics out here, and note the absence of the tabs on the support braces on the 70-71 valance.

Your correct. Here are the three different valences.

Here's a close up of the support brackets. It appears that replacement valance has the right skin but uses the 72-4 support brackets

We're working out the details on a front valance, so that's a pretty good indicator of where we are at. It's coming together great! So happy to see it almost back in one piece! RestoRick is da man when it comes to metal work. A true artisan.
