Early B-body manual hump/floor opening

Does this opening look like factory job? How was it done at the factory? First an "automatic" floor pan was installed, then a hole was cut with an axe and covered with a manual hump? More pics of this area?

I have a '65 Coronet 4spd car and mine looked like that. The opening was very ragged like it was cut with a whiz wheel or something. They must not have tooled up a floor shifter floor that year?

I am doing a 69 A-12 Roadrunner that looks the same way. Were all the 4 speed cars like this?

Dan- actually, that is very typical of the '62-5 B-bodies. From the looks of my '63 Savoy, my guess is that is was torch cut. Here is a pic of an original MW Sport Fury that Rocket restored. Notice the cut is nearly the same as the one in question.

My mistake!
I didn't think the removal of the passenger side of the "hump" was that complete & looked like 2-pieces added.

Yes, it might have been a torch. My floor had some very jagged edges. I ground them off in the interest of safety. At the time I wasn't interested in a correct restoration. Still not sure I'd leave a car looking that way even if I was performing a restoration. My car was dangerous to work on with the sharp jagged edges hanging down there.

My 65 is an original 4-sp - floor cut was very rough - it was obviously done with a torch. similar to 1st photo from memory

Thanks, guys! Here is a pic from slightly different angle showing edges that clearly look like they were torched. The hole for adjusting transmission linkage on the side of the hump will be welded shut, and shifter opening brought back to factory specs. Then we can move on towards the rear of the car
