Intake Manifold Part Number Help - 12/04/11 06:00 PM

I was given a cast iron intake manifold with the part number: 4100340-1. I was told it goes on a 360 but I cannot find out for sure. Anyone out there have more info on it? Thanks!

i can't say for sure, but that part number seems to be telling the story.

Maybe the person that said that, meant it will work on a 360.

40 prefix tells you that is a very late 70's part number at the earliest, so if you are thinking it's a 340 manifold because of the last 3 digits don't , that's only on engine blocks ...

Do you have a set of intake gaskets ? If so throw one on there , 318 ports will be smaller than 360 ports otherwise measure the ports and post it up , someone should be able to tell you what it is .

Is it a 2bbl manifold or 4bbl ?

The casting number is too late for a 273, and I don't believe there were any "cop car" 4-barrel 318 intakes made with 318 ports. If there were they are extremely rare. What you have is a 360 intake even if it came on a 318. It's really heavy, has EGR provisions and is a very good intake for performance, better for example than an Edelbrock Performer. I'm using one like it on my 86 318 because I got it for $15. It's a spreadbore so I may end up using an adapter to use my 600 Holley. Mileage is a factor so a Q-jet or T-quad are also possibilities.

All in all, not a bad intake.
