65 coronet steering box - 11/20/11 10:47 PM

the power steering box on my 65 coronet is leaking , does someone rebuild them ? what all boxes fit the 65. Has anyone ever switched back to manual steering? i had a manual steering 69 road runner back in 77 but dont remember how hard they are to drive!
thanks Gene

I ditched all the power steering on my 65 long ago in favor of manual. I believe the pitmarm is unique to early B body cars. Not sure if others would work.

Youll need a manual steering shaft for your column, or the adaptor that extends the shaft. The OEM shaft can be added to your existing power column. Its not a difficult swap.

i put a firm feel manual on my 65 coronet,16.1,fine on rolling but pretty stiff at slow speeds.

Just curious, as a friend of mine had a 65 plyouth with power steering, and we kept resealing the pump, lines ect, and it turned out to be he was spinning the pump too fast, and pumping the fluid out the reservoir.
