Cross drilled/slotted rotors...

Cross drilled/slotted rotors... - 09/09/11 08:13 PM

Worth it?

Or are they just a gimmick?
I was considering some with ceramic pads, but was wondering if it was more or less just a gimmick for a street toy.

Putting my dakota all back together now, so I have to get this stuff to finish....

Anyone?

I like the idea. VENTING out the gases and for cooling....

But NOT the ceramic pads though.... I would think that they would tear-up the rotors. Just the cheapy softer pads furr me.

buddy of mine just put a set of the sloted rotors on his chevy pickup.

Now it hums like crazy when it stops..
He doubts they are going to stay on his car very long because of the noise.

I learned there that you cant turn a drilled/slotted rotor. hahaha

I ordered them shortly after posting this. They're new rotors and they're cheap, so no loss if I'm not happy with them. I just want to see how this thing will stop with all new stock type stuff at it's new lighter weight, and if not, then I'll do something like brembos.

It stopped ok when it was new. If it stops better than new with better rotors and pads, I guess that's an improvement I can be happy with.

Thanks guys.

Interesting.

I wonder if he bedded the pads in correctly...or did he use that silencer stuff on the backs of the pads? What pads did he use?
