motor home 440, probably asked a thousand times - 09/09/11 04:52 PM

A friend of mine is trying to give me a 440 out of a motor home. He says it was rebuilt 15 years ago and it's sitting in his mothers driveway. Are the heads different on these 440's ? I'm getting the itch to go grab it.

GIVE YOU IT ? ... what are you waiting for ? ... REbuilt or not. But don't count on the parts being much in the HP department. The heads ? ... not-so-much either.

the heads on the 413 are different and they use a special exhaust manifold---the heads are way bigger than the old 452---i suspect the 440 is the same as the 413---but the motor is still worth the trouble---bob

I'll go get it as soon as I can. It's not really give, 2 benjamins and a case of beer. Better than Carlisle and it is close to home.

I got two motor home 440's hear both are regular cast crank 440's with 452 heads (I got $10 iron weight for each set) one standard 727 one had the short output with u joint converted it to regular output and it is in my buddy's Henry J gasser!
since bare blocks are worth $200 to $500 and tranny $75 to $200 grab it plus they work fine in mild street as is!
