Did you have to blast the wheels to paint them or were you able to scuff the finish & repaint?

Scuffed and repainted. I advise you to check them out on a balancer BEFORE wasting the money and effort on paint. DAMHIK

Good luck in getting a true 15x7 trim ring to fit .With the latest set of wheels I got from WV {one year ago}via Summit the exterior off set is off .The b/s is 4.25" but with the new hoops being slightly narrower the trim won`t set down enought to cath and hits on the centre of wheel . Both had to go back with no comment from WV as to why ????
Quote:thats what i did. worked pretty good for a guy who doesn't know how to paint, .
Scuff em with red scotchbright pad and paint them. I didn't even use primer.

For the life of me, I can't figure out why someone would pay WV for stock steel wheels when there are piles of them in junkyards and used wheel & tire yards all across the country for $15-$20 a pop.
What an I missing??

Easy; not in a 15" x 7" stockish appearing steelie. I got some 15" x 6 1/2" station wagon wheels but the 15" x 7" were only the ultra rare and expensive "450" wheels IIRC.

Dunno. My car sits outside, so they rusted like a shipwreck on a reef. Good luck with yours though.

BTW, I've had these wheels for 9 years - yours 5 years , things are looking up; they have improved 'em !
Quote:No but I will be losing the Road Wheels. I'm using the Redline radials on the steel wheels.
Chris,
are you losing the aluminum rims?

Chris the car is going to look killer with them on there .
With my My wheels, I just scuffed and painted them NO issues at all, also had NO issues when I had the tires mounted and balanced. Can't wait to see it when done. Going with the poverty caps also?

Are you kidding me? I have 15x7 steelies on the back of my Satellite. I had to decide on the best (2) out of a pile of at least (50) when I grabbed them at a used tire & wheel shop in Tacoma a few years ago. Then last year I grabbed another set to mount my ET Streets on. $20 a pop, more of them in the yard than I could care to count. 15x7's are like Camaro's around here. You guys aren't looking hard enough (or at all?)
Quote:this is very true. in some areas older stuff doesn't exist in junkyards. sometimes its just easier, and doesn't cost that much more in total, to buy new. used swap meet parts are too expensive and aren't worth the hassle to refinish.Quote:

In my situation, there arent many junk yards near me at all...the ones that are only have late model stuff.
Even if I did find a set I would have to spend $$ to get them blasted etc. At $92 each it is well worth the less aggravation to get a fresh set IMHO
To those that have access to "piles" of 15x7's and sand blasters etc

I hear you...were the tires mounted when they needed ton's of weight?
I have returned tires now that needed too much weight to balance out.
