I'm wondering about firewall clearance issues?

Yes there are firewall clearance issues: 3spd and 2spd.

Now, it does fit. Just getting it in and out and taking the cap off to make adjustments is the issue.

With my 3spd wiper to get cap off: I have to take 3-4 wires off, move the distributor housing (loose timing mark), then pull cap off.

After I bought mine, AndyF said he had similar thing with a 2spd wiper car. His runs fine in the car he is using it for. Big HP and has ran it at the track.

I got mine to run with my old 360 motor. We put it on just as a dry run to make sure it worked.

Then I put in my rebuild 416 and it would not work. I put an MP electronic system in and worked perfect first thing. Now, we did clean up some of the old wiring from the old motor. I sent it back to Summit and got a new one.

Then it did the same thing with the 2nd unit and had the same results: the timing jumps all over at idle. I'm not the only one working on this. Troy from the old Westoaks MP is helping me and did the whole install and setup.

I screwed up shipping the second E-curve back, by the time tried to ship it out again time had expired to return it. And it's the "second one". I just wanted another MSD non E-curve and MSD box (actually a little more $$ out of my pocket). But they wouldn't do it without an MRA number from MSD....

So I call MSD they say something is wrong with my setup. Two can't be bad. They said to install it and they would walk me hand and hand through the setup process.

That is cool of them, but I need to get off work early some day to go through it all with them. I hope we can figure this out. I just want the regular MSD distrubutor and MSD box, but I'm stuck with the E-curve ($300+) so we'll have to figure it out. I WILL NOT be stuck with a $300 distrubutor I can't use. I hope this is some small thing MSD can help me figure out.

Ran fine with this 360 motor...

Again with the 360 motor. Runs great. Good waveform...

With the 416 first time....

Runs fine with MP electronic. Took it to Willow Springs and ran the heck out of the motor all day up to 6200+ rpm. I've put 1418 miles on it since this picture.

Second time with another E-curve. Same timing jumping at idle...

Hmmmm.... I have a Duster so maybe no clearance problems?? Whoops! I need to look in my engine bay more often. The heater fan is not the wiper motor! What a goof!

All 67-76 A-bodies have the same wiper motor placement and basic firewalls.

You have a 2spd wiper. Ask AndyF for the procedure to remove the distributor cap in the car with in the A-body he installed an E-curve on....

Just curious, why the aluminum "shield" around the fender mounted coil?

Just a heat sheild to keep heat away from the coil. And looks more trick than it is and people ask about it.

Firewall clearance is no problem. The clearance to the wiper motor gets close. You have to remove a couple of the plug wires to pull the cap. I really like the e-curve. It is easy to dial in and you have a lot of adjustments. We put one in Tim's car with his 427 inch engine and it works great.

I have one in my '71 Demon with a 5.9 Magnum. No issues and I believe I can get the cap off without removing any plugs wires. I am using Schumacher conversion (/6 to SB) engine mounts.

Thanks for the replies, I think I'll try one out!
