Help with 340 Thermoquad idle circuit not working - 08/14/11 10:53 PM

I have a rebuilt T-Q on a relatively stock 340. I rebuilt it and The carb is super responsive, secondaries work great, no leaks, but I cant get the idle circuit to work the motor just runs out of fuel under about 1100 rpm. I'm sure something is clogged up but not sure how the idle circuit works on this carb or what to look for. Anybody know?

What's the idle speed? It just will not idle? Might shoot a 2 second shot of starting fluid in each idle mixture port (count # of turns to easily return them to orig)

Which TQ do you have (what is the number stamped into the drivers rear foot)?

It sounds like Roberts on the right track, your idle mixture screws do nothing if your rpm is to high and the primary circuit is doing it's thing. Have you checked your timing?

Are you 100% certain you do not have a vacuum leak?

x2 on what RR and SH says ..

ALSO .. check to see at what RPM your primary circuit comes in.
