how to remove steering play - p/s

I think I saw something previously about the coupler being the cause for excessive play or slop in the steering wheel? Is this an easy fix?

First thing you need to do is have someone move the wheel back and forth while you watch the column to see where the slop is. It could be the coupler or it could be the gear box.
