Hyd Race Lifters - 03/13/11 07:11 PM
Anyone running the Johnson type race Hyd lifters. What are you using for preload. I have seen conflicting settings; at the moment I have 1/3 of a turn preload. Some say they should be set at zero to 1/16 of a turn. Thanks for your input; these lifters have the HD circlip in the body rather than the wire retainer.

I've run them with 1/8 turn which worked out to about .005 preload for me. I would not be afraid to try 1/16, you may get a little noise until it warms up.

I believe Johnson Hylift sources these lifters to Comp Cams which repackages them as the Comp Cams Pro Magnum Lifters
Lifter preload should be set to .002”-.004” (hot settings) -
