AXLE VENT BOLT - Is there only one size for the 8 3/4??

I just received my axle vent bolt, went to install and discovered the hole in the axle is too small!

I purchased the 8 3/4 for my Challenger (stepping up from a six banger) and was told it was taken from a Challenger. I measured the perches and flanges and it was all legit.

The axle bolt I have looks to be a 11/16" (compared to a bolt size) whereas the hole in the axle appears to only accept a 1/2" bolt.

Is there different size axle vent bolts for a 8 3/4???

8-3/4 and dana are all the same

7-1/4 is different though

All the vintage Mopar housings use the same vent bolt with 7/16-20 thread.

I agree. The rear out of my 4 cyl dakota had the same vent as my 8-3/4

Can anyone tell me the size of the vent bolt for a 7 1/4 axle?

The 7 1/4 axles I have from '68-'69 do not have vented bolts. The vent is adjacent to the brake junction and is welded to the axle housing.

I think old dodge trucks had a bigger vent bolt. I bought one from a guy on ebay selling surplus government truck parts and when I got it I noticed it was too big. Anyone know for sure?
