'67 318, what color was it? - 11/20/10 04:44 PM
I've been trying to sell the original 318 from my Belvedere. No interested, so the block and heads are probably on their way to China to make junk, but I still have the intake, carb, air cleaner and valve covers. Figured I'd clean them up, and paint them original colors and just hang them on the wall in the garage or something... Intake and valve covers have many layers of different shades of orange, and maybe a few other colors mixed in... Just curious what it should all be.
BTW, I'm going to powder coat the pistons and give them to friends/family for Christmas. They make great paperweights and calender holders...
thanks...

Just make sure you don't scrap the crank because they are the good ones. Some guys also like the valve covers with the plug wire looms on them
Gus
Personally I'd save the block....I know you don't care, but someday someone else will own your car even if you keep it to your death, many of them would likely want the original block.

Thanks for the info!
and it's too late for the block, crank and heads. Took them to the scrap yard with what was left of an '84 5th Ave. I'd been trying to sell the engine or any part of the engine since spring with absolutely no interest. I really did hate scrapping the original engine, but being a '67 I can't honestly say it WAS the original engine. Besides I had 3 318's sitting in my garage, and it was the only one that wouldn't run. Well, 4 if you count the one now in the Belvedere.

Your car..... but what made you think that scrapping the original block from a 67 Convertable was a good idea?

That was an odd color red.I have a complete one in the garage.Rocky
I think it was chrysler fire power red for the red ram engines
we have all had to do it that way at some point,IMHO
makes room for more stuff till its turn comes around for the scraper
