Convert b body drum front brakes to disc question... - 11/09/10 10:41 PM

I looked in archives and a Mopar Action article. I want to be sure what will work to convert drum brakes on a 71 Charger to disc brakes. My understanding is that the 73-76 a body disc brake hardware will be a direct bolt-on to the 71 b body...?

Any help would be appreciated...thanks:)

yes , direct bolt on, then get calipers for a 71 charger .

Thank you John! The 73-76 a body calipers will not work on a b body?

A body stuff fits so does late model B body, R body and FMJ stuff.

Lots of different calipers fit, the issue is the hose routing. A body or E body calipers should work as will some types of the FMJ calipers. John's suggestion is a good one because then you can stick with a known solution and buy hoses over the counter. I prefer banjo fittings on the brake hoses rather than screw in fittings but that might not be a super important point.

For a '71 you should go with a front mounted caliper so stock brake hoses will work. Either pin or slider calipers will work. Make sure the bleeder points up and the brake hose fitting points towards the back so the hose will work properly.
