Dodge techs...help 2000 Intrepid trunk release - 11/05/10 02:57 AM

The remote/keyless trunk release on my Intrepid R/T hasn't been working and it's killing me trying to figure it out. The trunk won't stay latched, because the trigger on the trunk latch is opening it. When I shut the trunk, usually it won't latch at all, but sometimes it will, but only for a few seconds and then I can hear the electronic part open the latch. I have unhooked the switch on the dash and replaced it with no luck. I have taken the battery out of the keyless remote...no luck. I have swapped the electronic part mounted to the trunk latch and again, no luck. So, now what?

Is there a trunk lock fuse you can pull?

I don't know for sure, but there isn't one in the side panel when you open the driver side door.

Yes, it's unplugged for now to get it to latch. But until it's fixed, obviously the remote and switch won't work and there is no trunk light. It's funny though, when it's hooked up and the trunk lid is up, the light is out and when I begin to close the trunk lid, the switch is triggered and the light comes on. It's like it is backwards.
