Can anyone I.D. this circa-'75 big block as either a 440 or 400?

Looks like a 440. See if you can have the owner check under that a/c bracket for the machined pad. Most full size Winnebago's that I've seen, like that one, had the RB motor.

Thanks, will do. Will it be stamped "440" in that location?

What is the casting numbers on the side of the block?

No clue, as I really didn't want to climb under this motorhome.

I was just hoping there was a "a 440 has the #3 intake runner straight and a 400 has it curved" type easy to I.D. difference since I know little about big blocks.

Easy...if you look under that bracket, a 440 will have a raised pad area, and a 400 will not..

383/400



413/440..




The raised pad area is right under the bracket in your pic, and just in front of the intake sealing rail basically..(left side of pic in the 2 pics above)

Yes, it should be stamped 440 or even 413.
