A 383 is a B Block whereas a 440 is a RB block RB meaning raised block. There is some space pl;ates that "might" let you put a b block intake on an rb engine there nothing you can do about an RB intake on a B block.

"there nothing you can do about an RB intake on a B block."

You could always use 10 or 15 extra head gaskets per side you raise the heads to the proper height! Perfectly acceptable in places where intakes are hard to come by, like Afghanistan.

Or you can bolt the rb intake right to the 383 when you have certain stage 6 cyl heads.

You could do something goofy like that if you were trying to put a B intake on an RB , but not the other way around .

A 440 intake will not fit a 383. a 383 intake will fit a 440 with P5249189 spacers think they measure about .800 some have made them.

No, I was correct in my sage advice. You could indeed put an RB intake on a B by using the method I described. One time, in the future, I was trapped on an island with a bunch of criminals and I had to get an old engine running in order to get off the island. The engine was a 383 but the intake had been stolen years before and all I could find was a 440 Holley Dominator intake. By using a stack of old gaskets, I was able to use the intake and escaped just as the bad guys were shooting at me. It was a hell of a deal.

Maybe on a boat? But I doupt it would have worked on a car they dont float very well.

1959 383 is a raised block

The first 383 was introduced in 1959, but as the raised block. The dimensions on this engine were a bore of 4.030 and a stroke of 3.750 inches

Eddie did build 383 six packs. What is the part number?

Does it have a Chrysler number on it? Might be worth more to the resto clone guys.
