rear diff noise pinion angle - 05/09/10 11:51 PM
I have a noise in my 8 3/4 rear when accelerating as soon as i let off the noise goes away. Someone
said it may be the angle of the rear?

Pinion angle doesn't make noise. It will cause a shudder or vibration under load, but generally not a noise.
A loose pinion may make a noise. Gear wear, etc..

Sounds like a bad U joint.

Sounds like it could be a side bearing.

a whining noise when accelerating , goes away when letting off of the gas. (like in the Jeep Cherokee's)

whining under power- to much backlash. are they new gears? if gears are old, they are worn enough to create the noise. if new, they were set up thet way.
