I wouldn't run without baffles. oil and oil mist is thrown off the rockers. The baffle helps keep the breather free of oil residue.

I have a chrome set that are JUNK! There isn't enough of a lip to hold a gasket down. Classic Low-bidder crappola.

Nice looking valve covers! Running without the baffles at the dragstrip isn't a problem because the engine is operated at full throttle where there is little to no vacuum. Driving on the street without the baffles will result in smoke at idle and part throttle as described before. Not only that, oil has very low octane and can make your engine more sensitive to detonation. Look at the underside of any stamped steel valve cover to see how the factory did it. They were spot welded to the outer shell. This is probably unacceptable since yours appear to be either painted or anodized. You could use some sort of epoxy adhesive to attach a thin metal cover to the underside of the cover.

I ran a set on my street car. Used baffled grommets and baffled breather caps.

Use good gaskets and hold-downs. The soft alum distorts easily.
