power window problem... - 03/20/10 03:17 AM

I did what I swore I wouldn't... another car with power windows.

my 1985 Gran Fury, today driving, went to raise a window, and it ran up at about twice the normal speed, I tried the others, they did the same thing. now none of them work. except the driver's door motor, they draw current when I hit the switches, but no movement. the motor in the driver's door is stone dead on the bench, put in another I have that does work and no help. don't know about the others but they all worked before this incident. replaced the breaker-fuse, no help. trying the switches on the other doors doesn't help either. any idea? thinking the driver's door window control switch, but not sure. can't explain why they went so fast either, that makes zero sense as they are 12 volt motors and my voltage regulater is working fine. (tested volts DC on other systems while revving the motor).

help?

power must be thru the wires only- + & - one way- motor turns one way- reverse the power wires- it goes the other way- the steel body of the motor isn't ground for the motor.

Hope this helps.

most problems is the main bundle of wires thru the door and the car- constant opening/closing sometimes causes the wires to fray and break.
