1970 pink Roadrunner HELP??????? - 07/30/08 02:27 AM

I helped a good friend of mine pick up a 1970 Roadrunner tonight, The car has a 383 four speed drivetrain (numbers matching) but there is no fender tag for the car or a build sheet. My question is how does he research the vin to find out this info?

I have the vin#RM23N0A238693

Thanx for any help in advance. my e-mail is KITCAR78@PTD.NET

you really cant find anything out option wise for a car by just a vin. just hope that the fender tag or broadcast sheet will show up.

no, don't have pics. the car is in primer right now, but alot of pink under everything. the car was in Bethlehem Pa. It has been sitting since 1987 and needs alot of work but the combinations gotta be rare. these are pics I hope http://www.geocities.com/speedracer_25f/ Any one know the production figures for these cars?

I heard about a Pink RoadRunner in PA about 15 years ago. I have seen pics of it , but not sure if it's the same car. I used to collect info on all pink cars, since I owned a FM3 U-code 'cuda
at one time. I should have the VIN of the PA Road Runner on file, I'll have to dig it out and see if it is the same car.

I'm sure if you poked around in the trunk and looked at the hard to reach areas (up inside the trunk hinges and brackets, etc) you could tell if it was Moulin Rouge originally. Granted, without the build sheet or fender tag it may never be 100% known, but it's good enough for me.

I'd love to find a car like that.

Oh the pink is there its everywhere that you look, problem is when its restoed you wont see these places; IE under the dash in the trunk, its everywhere, the shell has been different colors throughout the years though, bronze,orange,and posibly white before the now black primer.

If this is a true moulon rouge RR with the 383 and 4-speed, how many were built with this combo?

No way to tell.

There is no information available to make this determination of model/options or model/colors.

If I remember correctly the colors are listed as a percentage of entire body type such as "B" body.

1970 FM3 Pink Road Runner production..

RM21 = 44
RM23 = 47
RM27 = 6

There is no way to break down the transmissions.

Well, after pulling out all my pink car files, I see the one in PA that I recorded info on 10 years ago, is actually a different car.
It is RM23N0A218246. I have the fender tag info on file for that car. Last vehicle inspection was Dec 87 so it's been off the road 20 years now, unless it's been restored by now. Numbers-matching 87k mile car.

I also have the fender tag info for RM23N0G212891.
And a 70 Satellie conv. RH27G0G221026 I have the fender tag info on it as well. Last known to be in Ontario.
