tail light ? 71 swinger - 01/18/10 03:00 AM

Does anyone know if the light bulb socket should come out of the back of the housing from a 71 dart swinger? I can see removing the lens to remove the bulb, but are these permanently attached? I'm looking to remove the sockets and pigtails to sell them but I don't wanna break them if they are supposed to be a single unit. Thanks.

the sockets are dual "cup" assembly inserting one inside the other and twisting like the bulb istelf, making a "sandwich" with the housing.

I don't think you'll be able to remove them without damage

I made one to reinstall one socket to another shouing, opening the inner lip ( prying ) and pressing it back once on my actual housing... not pretty but worked

The socket is not meant to come out of the housing.

Doesn't mean you can't try, but go in knowing that you might not like the results.
