If you want the car to sit very low and flat, get them.

If you want the car to sit high in the back, don't get them.

That pretty much sums it up....

Zippy, I have a 67 RT Coronet and replaced the original XHD springs with new XHD springs; car sits as you described. Do you know if the 3600 or the 3800 lb super stock springs would raise the car an inch or so? Also would it be level? I have used the 0002/0003 springs on a couple of A bodies but the right always was higher than the left side. Thanks Sorry to hijack this thread.

when i first finished my '70 bee i put the XHD mp leafs on and after they settled the car sat too low for my liking (pretty much level). so after 3 years i spent the cash on the 3800lb ss springs and hangers. i loved it... for about 6 months and now it's not level but not as much rake as i like. viewed from the back it's not crooked looking. both sets had "made in mexico" on them.

3800lb SS springs will raise it up an inch + no problem, with the front hanger bolt set in the top hole. In the bottom hole, the lift is more like 2 or 2.5 inches (ballpark).

And yes, they are made in Mexico just like every Dodge truck leaf spring has been since roughly the late 1980s. There is only one Chrysler leaf spring facility, and that's where it happens to be located.

I have a 70 Barracuda 383, it was a bit soft in the read with it's standard (not XHD) springs.
Some XHD springs came up for a good price (new) so I fitted them.
The car is still quite low but it gives a much better ride especially with passengers in the back or anything in thr trunk.

Since mine are the original from what I can tell. I am sure they should be the better then I have on it. I was wanting to make sure there were no problems with them. Thanks

You know that Mopars have adjustable ride heights, right?

These are the XHD's after a couple years.
SWame springs, just different tire heights make a big difference. 26" tall on the 17's and 29" tall on the 15's.

I was also going with MP XHD but came across too many complaints on sagging - "weak steel from Mexico". Went to ESPO, ordered hemi +1 setup and still very happy 2 yrs later.

Yup, put them on my charger about 3-4 yrs ago and the damn MP XHD basically flattened out and then kinda inverted themselves where they meet the shakle and pivot. We just redid the suspension in our 70 chally last year and went with Espo. All I can say is when I can afford to redo my springs in my charger, I am going with ESPO again!

Here is a pic of mine, XHD were new about a year ago, they are way better than the originals & if they sag I'll get some SS or equivalent but I'm happy for now.

not in the back with stock style parts!!

sure you can turn the torsion bars to adjust the front, but that won't do anything for the rear, and the offset spring rates make the rear sit uneven

Re: MP XHD Leaf Springs - 01/15/10 01:44 PM

True, you cannot change the locations of the rear spring mounts easily, but if you turn up the opposing torsion bar, the rear will level its self out.

The XHD springs are a stock Hemi replacement part. They are designed to OEM specs for ride height. They do not provide lift, but do provide torque control. What a lot of us tend to forget after 30+ years, is a lot of mopars did not have a rake from the factory, but instead were more nose up in attitude. This is why the perofrmance manual alway suggesteed altering the ride height for a nose down rake.

Don't beleive me, next time you watch Vanishing Point, notice how the car sits.

Unless your car is folding in half, if you raise the front left, the rear right has to go down. I don't know what makes the rear sit uneven. Is it uneven spring rates, uneven preset arch, or what. Just turn the torsions. No need to have a lopsided Mopar.
