Removal of 1968 Satellite rocker molding trim?

This molding is attached by wide clips. I need to remove it partially to straigthen the back end near the rear tire because it is not hugging the body at that end and there is no clip to attach the last 12 inches or so to keep it snug to the body panel.

Do I just take a butter knife and start prying?
