1974 block not decked bore 030 over 915 heads 2:14 and 1:81 valves milled 020 thin head gasket 2286P sealed power forged pistons. If someone would give me a rough compression estimate before I buy a new cam kit, I would appreciate it.

What are the specs on those pistons? Dome? Dish? Compression height?

I believe they are dish, as I remember they have valve reliefs cut into them. I don't know comp height. I need to have at least 9.5 to 1 comp to run the 60304 lunati cam. My orginal cast pistons were way down in the hole.

I'm going to say you'll be fine. I'm running the 70's smogger pistons in my 440 with the 60303 cam and it runs well. You've got to have more CR than me so in all likelyhood you'll be fine. If you knew how far down in the hole your pistons are and whether they have a dish or just valve reliefs your actual CR could be calculated.

They are 2286P sealed power, they're an older forged piston. They weren't dome pistons. I do remember they were still down in the hole a bit, but nothing like the orginal cast pistons.

If they are still in the motor measure how far down in the hole they are at TDC. If you take a straight edge accross the bore and feeler gauge the gap that works best. Then cc the heads. from there you can get a fairly accurate estimate otherwise your just guessing because there are too many variables.
