how did you string your wiring in the engine compart? - 07/10/08 05:47 PM
Rewiring the engine compartment. It has a wire loom along the back firewall. I pulled all the tape off of it and so it is just in the hangers.
Just looking for ideas on bundling the wires for a cleaner look.
I don't plan on hiding it all, just wanted it to look nicer than a bunch of wires hanging.
I thought about that split plastic tubing stuff, and will probably go that route, unless someone has a better idea.

black plastic wire conduit does a great job of cleaning the wiring up and protecting wires from heat. It looks better than electrical tape IMO.

Mine is sloppily done. It's just enough for all the systems to work properly while I do the new engine. Then it all comes out for body and paint, then it'll be done properly. I'd like to take a page from the hot rodders who hide the wiring!

bulk wires in a convoluted tubing jacket, ran neatly under the intake manifold to choke/temp sender, down to the alternator, and horns.
the headlight harness goes thropugh the frame rail up out the end and through the square radiator support's hole.

Another vote for black plastic convolute tubing...

That does look cleaner than I imagined. Mine was kind of a mixed bag of taped wiring and that plastic stuff, but not tight and in place, just put over some areas.
