burn off method

From what I know the shell is actual put in an oven and the paint is turned to ash.

I've heard of doing pieces of cars with the burn off method. One example was a vintage air cleaner sheetmatal base. It was put in an oven to burn all the paint to ash then bead blasted to remove rust. Didn't harm the part at all.

I didn't know there were ovens big enough for a whole car. If it were heated gently and supported well it shouldn't hurt the shape of the metal.

Like tank dipping it would remove factory dip primer and sealers in hidden areas like frame rails. A lot of care would be meeded to get the dust out and replace the corrosion protection in the hidden spots.

There's a place south of Detroit, Michigan that I think can run a whole car in the oven. That gets the paint off and they give it an acid bath to eat the rust off. I've used them for fenders etc, but not a whole car. Works good for surface rustb but the cancerous type doesn't clean up real well. There.s a place in Toledo, Ohio that does the electrical stripping. 100% of all paint and rust removed without damaging the metal. They can do a whole car. I used to use this place but they got really $$$$$.

Thats the problem the place in Toledo has gottenvery expensive about $1800 for the shell.

I know of a small shop that does it. They claim that as long as they let it cool down evenly and slowly there will be no warpage. It has to be a controlled cool down.

How about cooling it down with a garden hose, that way you can get in and work on it sooner.
