I need a shifter for my 70 challenger,my friend has a new in the box comp plus shifter he got from summit he will sell me cheap he bought it for a 69 charger so I know the rods won't work but can I buy the corrrect rods for my car and use this shifter?I hope so because a new one is a lot more than I have right now.or is there any other affordable option out there?Thanks for the help

Shifter will work with the correct mounting plate for your car and the correct rods.
Brewer's have what you will need.

Brewers has excellent stuff, Summit also has the complete kit w/ shift levers & all for a non-console car. The only thing with Summit's is that it comes w/ nylon shift lever bushings, but you can get the Hurst Pit Pack w/ metal shift bushings from Summit but it costs extra.

i got my install kit off ebay. saved me about $20. i agree go with the steel bushings.

The shifter mechaniam for a '69 B-body is not the same as one for an E-body. The levers in the E-body mech. are splayed out further because its mounted on the very back of the trans. If you use a B-body unit you will wind up with possible binding problems, good luck.
