1972 fender tag code list - 08/16/09 06:54 PM

Hi all, I'm getting ready to sell my car and would like to list the fender tag info on my car. Unfortunately, the car has no tag, but since it is an original car it has all it's original options. Could someone point me to a list of all options so I could piece together my tag? thanks very much!!

Are you going to make or purchase a "Fake" tag?

Depending on the rarity of the model and the target market for the car, having the "Original" fender tag can affect the sale price / value of the car.

Just depends who is buying it and why.

That said, You "could" look for the Original Factory Build "Broadcast Sheet" (usually found under seats, under / behind the rear seats, etc, but it may have disappeared over time.

Finally, you could write down the Options / Standard Equipment items you have on the car, and Decode / Translate these into the Factory Code numbers.

Here is a fairly good Tag Decode List:

Yes, this is what I had been planning on doing. The car is very original, but was involved in an accident where the front left fender was replaced and the fender tag never put back on. I am planning on just decoding what the car has now. I know already it has the E-Z order package, and some other smaller options. I just want a list so I could list the fender codes for potential buyers. I have already checked under seats for buildsheet. Thank you for the list! I assume it is very close to what a 72 would have.

Should be "similar" if not identical code numbers, 1971 versus 1972. There "may" be some difference, but from all I have seen, not much if any.

A couple of thoughts....

Lynch Road cars (A plant) have minimal option codes on the tag. STL built cars will have more codes.

Not all option or package codes were listed on the tag.

What was listed changed from year to year and plant to plant.

Due to the complexities of determining options and whether they were or were not coded on the tag, you would probably be better off just listing what options or features your car has in your ad instead of trying to reconstruct what was on the tag.
