Are '70-'74 E-body seats the same? - 08/14/09 05:07 AM

Just wondering if 1970-74 E-body seats use the same frame/foam. I was looking at a pair out of a '72-'74, but I want to use '70 seat covers. Would this work? Thanks

No, it won't work. The 73-74 seats are totally different, use a different frame, different latch, and don't have the hard plastic backs like the earlier seats.

What about '72? I haven't seen these ones in person yet, but the guy says they have seat backs and that they are out of an E-body. The "pleats" in the upholstery run up and down the seat, rather than side to side like I want. I'm looking for something to match a 70 Charger interior and 70 Charger seats are too much coin for me.

No, 72's are different as well. If 70 is the look you want, you must find 70 cores to redo.

But I think 70 A body seats are the same cores.

Change did happen on 71 half production

you can use the covers changing the foam too. Foam and cover will fit perfectly on any frame.

So you can mount 70/71 foam and cover on any seat core including laters.

Remember 71 production did have both seat frames, but keep same foam and cover, so change didn't affect that. Cover just will need to get the right cut outs at release button thing what you make once installed

I'm bassed on B bodies setup changes, that I don't think E bodies are really diff on those details. Maybe diff design on covers and everything but frame core changes should it happen at the same time.
