Tail light sockets/ or LED replacements? - 07/26/09 10:59 PM
I decided to rewire the tail lights in my 65 coronet.
Anyone know where I can buy new sockets? Both for the tail lights and reverse.
Also anyone recommend any LED replacment's, or even a wired in one now that I am rewiring?

I like the 5 mm 1/4watt super bright undiffused LED side markers.
The original bulbs work fine too. LEDs last longer an are more shock resistant.

Hi Andrewh,
Ran across this company(HITECH)that makes an LED conversion kit for your 65 Coronet, not cheap at $180. It uses the same bayonet lamp mount you now have. Ask them if you'll need a "load equalizer" so your flasher will be able to blink the LED's.
Each assembly has 87 LEDs, guess you would have to seperate the lense from the housing to install this...

Hi I restore tail light and park light housings. You can get really nice generic sockets at many auto parts stores. I am in Canada so the following doesn't really help you I assume, but Canadian Tire has some superb ones that fit in really nice and have good plating and look quite close to originals. With work you can even duplicate the weather seal jacket typically used on many front turn signal/park lights. Hope that helps

Thanks.
The tail lights seperate pretty easy.
Not really worried about originality.
Thought I might even go junk yarding. Saw quite a few cars today with oem led lights.
