1970 B - Body Bench seat with Keisler TKO? - 06/15/09 07:36 PM

With the shifter moved up on my 5 speed bench seat non-console RoadRunner Keisler sent me what looks like a console pretzel shaped shifter. Does the stock Pistol grip hit the dash in 1st and third? It looks really close. Any one else have this problem with this set up?

thanks

I got the console mounted 70 pistol grip Keisler TKO 5spd in my 1970 Daytona Charger, the short throw of the Keisler is perhaps a 1/4 of what an original 4spd throw would be,...the original bench seat 4spd Hurst shifters were extremely close to the dash on 1/3 shifts,......confirm with Keisler that you have the desired shifter, bench, or console, and the correct offset bracket that bolts to the shift tower "nub", and then bolts the shifter handle it self,....you may have the wrong parts?.....pics would help?.....for what it's worth, "rowing" the 70 B body Keisler console stick is akin to the stock 4spd E body pistol grip, the throws are very short!....takes some getting use to

The question is anybody using a standard bench seat non console pistol grip with a Keisler TKO. I do not want to buy a new stick and find out its hits the dashboard.

thanks

I dunno, but you COULD just sell me your bench seat and put buckets in your car......

None of the Keisler installs that I've done, have I used the BENCH 70 B body shifter,...stock or Keislers repro,.....the Keisler 68-70 B TKO application will move the shifter tower location approx, 3-4 inches right of stock shifter centerline location,....forward relocation is generally no more than 1 inch, from stock centerline,......regardless of shifter chosen, if it hits anything,....fabricate a offset, or relocation bracket to tailor the shifter to your needs,....there should be a relocation bracket supplied with your Keisler kit,......
