When I turn the ignition key , the cylinder lock falls out of the switch-what causes this? The cylinder is locked in the switch until I turn the key-how can I fix this? Is the only thing holding it in the little spring loaded pin on the barrel of the cylinder?

Yes,
The only thing that holds it in is the spring pin, that sits in a recessed groove the the outer shell.
69 is a one year only deal as well, try a new cylinder to see if it will stay in place.
If not you are going to need a new switch and that is big money...
