Flexible exhaust tubing for shop/garage use - 06/01/09 12:18 AM
In yet another effort to get my one particularily overzealous neighbor off my back, I'd like to get some kind of freshly chopped off stock mufflers from a muffler shop, and hook that up to my tail pipes when I'm tuning at home in the garage. In order to do that I need some kind of tubing that I can quickly clamp onto the my 3" tail pipes and onto the likely much smaller stock style mufflers. I suspected that just aluminum flexible tubing will not do much to make sure the noise makes it all the way into the mufflers, and I think I've seen dyno room stuff that seems to be insulated or something. Just looking for something that will work, so that I can work on the car tuning without any reason for anyone to get pissy with me.
I will also appreciate any alternative suggestions on how to tune at home in acceptable silence. For comparisons sake, I runn full 3" through Ultra flows and tails, then I have been hanking the 3" version o fthe super turbos off the tail pipes and still getting complains. Partially I think the neighborood has no trees or obstructions to eat sound, seconly they point at a 45 towards my driveway which probably doesn't help evac the sounds from the neighborhood. It is current quieter than a lawnmower 1/2 block away, but still not good enough for that one neighbor and supposedly a few quiet ones that haven't told me.
