Hard upper rad hose & bubbles in the Coolant

Hard upper rad hose & bubbles in the Coolant - 05/26/09 04:14 PM

Any other reason (easy fix) other than a blown head gasket that would make the upper hose hard after about 15 minutes of running plus bubbling in the rad with the cap off? It looks like it's top end rebuild time.

If it's constantly bubbling, it's say it's a HG leak.

BTW, you've heard Revell is reissuing the Tom Daniel Tijuana Taxi kit, right? I noticed it in your avatar...

No, I haven't heard. I'll check it out. Must've built a dozen of them as a kid. (common birthday present and fun to blow up and light on fire)

is the thermostat open?
if so,and the system is under pressure its a h/g.
you can do a compression test to be sure.
also,if you have access to a smog sniffer it can detect exhaust elements in the rad too.
