When installing torsion bars, where should the arm/cam (that the adjusting bolt pushes on in the lca) be positioned when you slide the bar into the lca hex socket? When I installed my torsion bars a while back I wasn't aware that those arms/cams were supposed to be clocked in a certain position. I was setting my ride height this past week and once I got it set, the torsion bar adjuster bolts were sticking way out of the LCAs. Apparently, the arms/cams were tipped all the way down in the lca when I put the torsion bars in place so now I am in the process of taking everything apart to reposition them correctly. I managed to get the driver side torsion bar out but I am having a very hard time getting the passenger side out.

With the suspension hanging down, bump stop removed, you need the adjustment arm to be as far down as possible. I’ve used a steel plate on the lca (to bridge the gap) and a c clamp on the tip of the arm to force it down slightly more in order to get correct clocking of the hexes.

Adjustment bolt loose during all this of course.

That's how I originally did based on what I was told here. Being the adjuster bolts were sticking out of the bottom of the lcas (about 3/4") after I set the ride height it would seem to me the adjustment arm was down too low in the lca.

I don't think you have an issue , I can't remember ever having the adjuster bolt flush with the bottom of the LCA.

I looked at the adjustment bolts on my other Dart and they are both about 1/8th-1/4" up into the slot on the lca at normal ride height.

Same torsion bars and weight on the front end and everything is not torqued ... LCA stud and upper cam bolts ?

I've always had to push the LCA down as far as it would go to get the Tbar in , the adjustment bolt is where it is at ride height ???

Agreed. If the socket wasn't positioned correctly, you'd know immediately. There's 60 degrees of clocking, if you're off by 60 degrees the control arm would point straight down or up into the fender.

And the adjusters are expected to be in different places for different vehicles. Weight, bar size and desired ride height all affect the adjustment.

Is the ride height at factory setting or your desired height?

I’ve wondered if a heavier bar would result in the adjuster bolt hanging our farther due to less adjustment required to reach ride height.

Depends. Thicker bars often have the ends clocked slightly different than thin bars. This helps keep the adjustment closer to the center of its range.

But not all are reclocked.

And if they are reclocked even slightly then installation would be much easier. The bars I’ve installed were always a struggle in terms of clocking.
