Edelbrock heads and factory ac compressor

Edelbrock heads and factory ac compressor - 03/02/24 08:00 PM

I’m trying to put the finishing touches up on a Edelbrock headed small block with a factory compressor. The alternator adjusting strap that bolts to the very bottom of the head will not fit. The edelbrock head is thicker where the bottom strap bolts to the head so it won’t fit. Anyone ever run into that?

Yes, I had to modify all of the brackets that attached to the head or the intake.

Thanks for that picture. I wish I would have mocked this up before I installed the engine in the bay. It was apparent that I would have to modify the bottom bracket but the rear bracket that bolts to the top of the head appears to fit. However. He has a latter square back alternator and it hits the head as well. I have an old 71 alternator that would fit but I’ve got plans for it. He’s decided to go with non ac setup and be done with it. It stopped working right before the motor blew up and the heater doesn’t work either. Thanks for the conformation.

That hole shouldn't be a big deal to remove material around it to allow for the stock bracket to fit again wrench scope up twocents

I’ll have to shorten the bracket but the square back alt hits the head as well. Non ac is the easiest way to go and relived the clutter in the engine compartment.

This alternator was very close to the head as well.
